Finally, I've been waiting for this. And I hope this version can become a bit more than the PC port. Hopefully better card managements etc. Apart from some performance issues which will be fixed, this is perfect. (I'm a fanboy, so I might be biased)

Disapointed, waited a long time and was very happy to finally be able to play the game on mobile (S8+). Download is very long and doesn't let you leave the app, even to answer a text. I don't get why they didn't make it able to run in background like most apps with a download size that huge. Big deception on UI, I thought they would make a mobile game, but they didnt adapt anything to mobile, it's an exact copy paste of computer version, just on a tiny screen since they didn't adapt it...

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that an unoptimized mess of a desktop game would be even worse on mobile. UI bugs like crazy. Selection is hit or miss, sometimes the "Next" button won't click and the game won't progress. You WILL lose games to the UI. Don't play ranked. In fact, don't play at all until they make it run even halfway decent, because it doesn't.

Unplayable on mobile data. Upon making an account it just says connecting to server until eventually it says retry, log out or go to the forums. Then if you leave the app it just black screens. You have to be on wifi to play. If you can get the game started, it's not bad. The UI is pretty smooth. Every now and then black screens happen and the app shuts down but, as for the game. Its magic. If you don't know what magic is it will teach you but it pretty much seems just like magic.

Two flaws (a star off for each). One, it's impossible to keep a stable connection over wifi from a phone. Has to be phone 4G or wifi from a computer. Two, you can either spend very little money and hit a barrier early on, or spend a fortune and reach peak level. There doesn't seem to be any in-between for gradual progression and card acquisition. I would like to spend £5-10 every so often and gradually improve my decks, like I used to with the physical cards, but I can't.

A great start to making a mobile version of arena, however clearly needs more work before it is playable. The app crashes constantly for me, which is especially frustrating when rounds restart every time the app is closed. I would also like to be able to listen to my music in the background but even with app audio turned off it will silence any bg apps. I would like to have a stripped down version for it to run smoother.

The port keeps getting better and faster on the phone. Great way to get a few matched while taking a break or on the toilet. In its current form there have been some errors, disconnects, skipping phases. It's limited in how many cards can be on any given board state. Overall it's the best magic the gathering mobile app. It crushes duels. I would stay away from ranked if you care about your rating while using the app on the phone.

There are a few bugs with the controls. Mainly unresponsive or a lag in between presses. But mainly it works well. Also the games slows a bit when there's too much going on, or when there's too many cards on the battlefield at once. But other than that, it's great to play MTG Arena on mobile. I gave it 5 stars because I think overall the devs have done an excellent job to bring this to mobile!

Buggy... but actual mtg, but with a seemingly obvious bug. Often you are stuck with no options clickable. You have to pretend to play a card to move on. If you have no cards to pretend to play you have to wait for the timer. Update: Still not fixed. Constantly forced to wait out the timer because you have no options. How can a game this large of scale have such a huge bug???

The UI needs to be improved. Clicking and dragging cards to put them in play doesnt always work requiring you to try multiple times. When selecting a card to attack or block, it isnt responsive and wont always work on the first try. The game stutters a lot. It will freeze for a second when dragging placing a card down or when you move on to the damage step. Fix those things and this game would be a great alternative to playing MTG on the go.

Love the game but have had some awful glitches. Have lost a dozen matches now because my attack button bugs out and just won't activate. I can always tell the bug has happened because when I select a creature to attack it doesn't change to "1 attacker" but stays "all attack" no matter what I do. Very frustrating, not to mention I made the terrible mistake of buying the $20(!!!) Mastery pass (for a mobile game!) Can't take a break from the game or I waste my money, but can't win because of bugs.

TOO MUCH RAGE QUITTING! Although the game is really well designed and is super fun, they have no mechanic to stop every single gosh darned opponent from quitting mid-match if you get the upper hand. Literally every game has figured this out, if there's no consequence for constantly leaving without finishing the game, everyone will do that. So basically if you aren't super lucky you will never play a game all the way through unless you're losing. It gets really frustrating.

It's fun playing MtG on mobile but there is a terrible glitch that won't let you do anything on your turn and the only available option is to pass your turn, which can easily cost you a game. Also not having access to previous cosmetics just because I didn't have access to the game on mobile is a huge turnoff and makes me less likely to want to invest in more time and money in the future because I feel like I'm being"punished" for not being able to play the game sooner.

Good game but they have to do something about the time limit per turn/move. Players when they're about to lose take the longest to complete their turn and purposely stall. It's a waste of unnecessary time. If possible, there should be an auto-win function to complete the match if no more possible cards can be played before a winning turn.

The day has finally come!! I wished for years that someone make this amazing card game available on mobile. The tutorial is good, graphics and animations too, but the thing is that i rarely can finish a match because it always crashes and brakes down. In the end, i definetly agree with the ones who claimed about the too much tiny writings on the cards, i'm almost getting blind for the effort. Please, solve theese problems, and i'll give you 5 stars for sure.

Getting better but trying to assign attackers with pw on board is hard or impossible. I haven't been able to successfully do it yet. It's laggy too. I don't care about animations, i would rather it run smoother. Review change, just lagged out of a paid draft match. Pretty upsetting, won't be spending anything else until something is done about the abysmal performance. Brand new device claimed to be supported.

I was finally getting to play the game. While it freezes sometimes and will cause your timer to expire in a match, it was good over all. However, now I can't even get it to start. All I get is a black screen when I try to load it. Even let it sit for 20 minutes or so on the black screen to see it if might be loading but not displaying. If that was the case it never allowed it to display.

Please make a mobile version that differ from the computer. Here are some suggestion: 1 - Either drag or click, both mechanics at the same time makes it very confusing. 2 - Option to disable visual effects from cards. 4 - Outside of a match allow some features to be vertical, like I really wanted do see a card full screen vertical. 5 - You need to understand that phone screens are small and you need to make the most out of it. I don't need to see land cards there, make them icons or somethin

Although there is a large assortment of cards, you are stuck forking out hefty cash in order to unlock any amount of decent cards. No way to get cards individually, unless you spend a large amount of money first. Then and only then, are you able to get maybe 5 common, 3 uncommon, 1 rare, and depending on how much you spend...maaaaaybe a mythic. Playing events without spending this money isn't feasible as the participants have all spent this money already to tune decks. Money sink!

I love magic. I play this on my PC. But on mobile it is almost unplayable. It is super laggy when you get into later game with bigger boards. The controls are clunky and mistakes are guaranteed when its laggy. And the timer is unforgiving when the game isn't wanting to cooperate. Gameplay is 5 stars but you can't play on mobile without having a rough time.

It is pretty frustrating to play after a while because you definitely have a disadvantage to the PC players as sometimes you cant move to the next phase, resolve a spell or respond to a trigger, its kinda random. The game itself is still good though (its MTG afterall) and its still better than playing hearthstone or smth else (my opinion). So 3 stars on the scale of quality games, the mobile app needs some more work and hopefully it will be more fluent at some point.

From what I can see, there are no significant UI changes that make the game more usable on mobile. Literally just desktop app on mobile screen. I'd for give it from lesser known games, but its really inexcusable for MTGA. If you really want to play MTGA on your phone, go ahead, but if you want a good card game experience on mobile there are many better options available.

Only 1 game played. After one game it didnt allow me to play another one. The screen goes black and just returns to the starting screen. Sometimes the attack button doesnt work. And just ignores the clicking. Work on it guys before releasing this! Edited: after coming back. Things are kinda laggy and sometimes it doesnt let me attack. Making me force to lose a turn. I dont mind losing the game. But not able to do your actions makes it unbearable to play it.

Wow...had such high hopes for this game...the controls are spotty at best, the game play is chunky, and the matches are as you could expect (expect to face some money dumpers right out the gate) the inability to gain gems is ridiculous versus other games and the scale to participate in advanced matches is likewise ridiculously scaled (be prepared to spend extra money beyond the tutorial to keep up). This game does not live up to any expectation of open draft or even casual beyond tutorials.

I have been playing MTGArena since Beta on the PC and I think it's by far the best digital adaptation of the game. People have to remember that they are taking a BIG game with lots of mechanics, artwork and overall design and fitting it onto a smaller platform, so there are bound to be teething problems. I still feel the app could have done with staying in Beta a bit longer to try and iron out the disconnecting issues and overall server lag, but all in all the game itself is great!

I was happy to finally download this game. But it seems like others, my Galaxy S8+ cant make the cut as it's very buggy. The pass turn/attack all button lagged out and won't let me push it unless I click auto pass then I don't get to attack/play my spell. I'll just stick to pc, as this was a more convenient way to play! I recomend users of cell phones older then the S8+ to reconsider downloading it. No wonder it was not compatible in beta for me.

As much as I have tried liking this game I just can't tolerate how poor this app has been. I have been playing magic in real life for years and I thought this would be good. The laggy gameplay, the skipping of my triggers, action button not working the majority of the time, somehow going a game pulling 15 lands in a row and the pay to win atmosphere makes this game utterly unenjoyable and borderline unplayable. I've already given you a lot of my money for the real cards and you tell me I gotta spend real money for digital cards too? What happeneds if your app fails like all the other MTG apps you've made? Guess I've lost my money forever huh. Anyway I digress. The fact is that a company as big as wizards of the west coast could've and should've been able to make something far more enjoyable and playable than this. If you already play in real life, don't waste your time and stick to that and if you are a newcomer this is not the place to start. I will uninstall and keep going to FNM. Good day.

I'm obsessed with this game. Literally. My only complaint is that it doesn't run very well on my Samsung A12. On my (also cheap) laptop I could turn down the graphics to make it perform better. Hopefully something like that can be included into the mobile version. Thanks for making this mobile, I'm not going to put it down for a long long time.

This is an absolute mess. I would love to play MtG online, but the random switches between automatic and detailed mode and then hitting a button and it not doing anything is beyond frustrating. I'm just gonna rope my friends into playing Magic in person. Focus on the basics before you add in all these dumb challenges and leaderboards. PvP and bot practice need to be sorted.

Honestly a great rendition of the card game, very satisfying to play but holy cow is it buggy. Like it gets stuck in random phases and you click the button to progress and it just locks up. Not to mention how much loading and no memory no ability to pause a match like you must play through the entire match and hope nothing freezes or you have to play it from the beginning. It'll get better though I'm sure so anxiously awaiting some updates

I might be too ambitious after such long wait for the phone version to expect it to work. I open the app, after a long wait, manage to go to the main menu, press to play, another long wait if not crashed, when find an opponent and goes into the game, black screen and out of the app. In one week of trial, did not manage to do a single game, not even half of it. I believe is still very early ages and a lot of big fixing is in need. Maybe in few months i'll try again.

It's bland. The plot and story is completely non-existent, the gui is an unintuitive travesty, and the game play is less than enchanting. The entire experience is an uninspiring let-down to the God-only-knows-how-many expansions of art and story we've cone to know and deserve. It's digital garbage. All of it. Revised - 1994+

Its a crash grab and the game play isn't even up to standards. Multiple occasions cards get destroyed or drawn even though there's nothing played or on the field affecting it. I've been playing magic the gathering for 15 years. The company hates legacy players and its painfully obvious they are not going to allow anyone to keep digital cards that are more than a year old ,but expect you to pay full price as if the digital version of the cards hold the same value as the physical copies.THEY DON'T

This game is fun when it works. Unfortunately, it rarely works. The most frustrating problem is the action button randomly deciding not to work. When this happens, you cannot attack, block, resolve, or pass the turn - meaning you have to wait for your turn timer to burn all the way down before the game can continue. In the best case, this is a mild inconvenience. In the worst, it can literally cost you a game. In my experience, this functionality breakdown occurs temporarily in about 30% of games, and for the duration of the entire game in about 10% of games. With a bug this major occurring in nearly 50% of games, it approaches unplayable. The other major issue with this game is that it is incredibly resource intensive. Even playing on a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in performance mode, every single match turns into an extremely slow mess after a few turns. It seems like the developers simply ported the desktop version of this game over to mobile without any optimizations.

Game matching is terrible. I have no idea why there would even be an option to fight a multicolored deck as your FIRST opponent in order to just unlock your deck. Terribly pay to win and having to get over p2w in order to play isn't even fun. Too many bugs and buttons get stuck. Have to miss some of the phases because the only way through is passing automatically since the button is stuck. Genuinely a terrible experience for anyone looking to play MTG. I'd recommend finding a friend irl.

I love magic, but I hate this game for its match making system. When you make a new deck, the game doesn't know what beats it but it quickly learns and either deprives you of the cards your deck needs to do what its supposed to do (lands, creatures artifcats ect) or it matches you against a deck that is guaranteed to beat you. For example, my rune forge champion deck is always matched against agressive aggro decks that it can't set up on. And even though I use hexproof I am always matched against players with only board wipes or literally the only "target player sacrifices a creature" card in the game. Meanwhile, my Golgari deck that uses the graveyard is constantly matched against control decks that always have a counterspell when I try to use the graveyard. Literally, the two decks always play against different players and its extremely frustrating because i own both decks in paper and they both do very well in real life. I wish whatever match making mechanics are working in the background would get scrapped in favor of a truely random experience.

I wish there was an 'interface only' tutorial for folks who already know the rules. I nearly uninstalled it before making it through the annoying tutorial. Nice that you can customise gameplay but wish that you could turn off the dramatic flying/fighting cards graphics. I'm sure there are others who would also like the game to look more like an actual game of Magic and less like an RPG. Also, there's a bug that abandons the game in progress when you lock screen (perhaps only on the tutorials?)

Love Arena, but the mobile version has some kinks to work out. It's really irritating to be winning a game and then lose because the timer gets stuck or the resolve button won't work. There can still be fun in losing a game, but losing as often as I have because of bugs has me considering uninstalling rather than throwing my phone across the room. Fix the bugs and you've got a good 4-5 star game. I'm thinking 4 stars due to the expensive cost for entering events.

My Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite tablet (purchased late 2020) could barely run this game! I play MTGA on PC and really enjoy it, but it is absolutely UNPLAYABLE on this tablet! I would love to have an option to reduce or even remove the animations of the board and the cards, as I'm sure that would help considerably. I don't need a flashy interface or animations for MTG, just a solid mobile platform. As a comparison, Riot's Legend of Runeterra runs FLAWLESSLY on the same tablet! I would love nothing more than to be able to play MTG while on the go, but, sadly, this definitely isn't it.

Played this game a ton when I was younger, so was excited to try it. Was going alright for a few days (early game play is long and tedious for previous players). Suddenly today, just a black mirror and unable to load. I was wary when I saw the low rating, but it isn't low enough. The game is clunky and struggles to stay online, AND NOW APPARENTLY IS COMPLETELY UNPLAYABLE. Don't waste your time.
