reviews

Absolutely phenomenal. Gameplay is challenging but rewarding. F2P friendly. Amazing music, with an unique art style. Very fun game. Story is long, and reads like a visual novel(you can skip if it's not for you). Of course, like other games, it will get repetitive over time. Taking a small break but will definitely come back because I am absolutely in love. Honestly the only mobile game I've spent money on, not because it requires me, but because I want to genuinely support the devs, Hypergryph.

Arknights is a variation of a tower defense game with a well-built world and good story. I'm hooked, and you probably will be too if you like a good story with strategic gameplay. It still has many of the mobile game "features" like a limited play resource and loot boxes, but it seems to me that these will only slow down progression (sometimes significantly), and you are not blocked if you do not pay.

This is a wonderful game with Japanese voice-acting, and pretty, anime-inspired art that, surprisingly, isn't sexually gratuitous. It also features a clean, and intuitive UI, and a tremendous soundtrack. You might encounter a steep learning curve if you're not used to tower defence, and some maps can be very challenging. But that's part of the fun! Arknights is really more like a puzzle game, with some RPG elements. And best of all, it boasts a deep and engaging story. It's somewhat marred by poor translation, but the characters and their struggles will invariably draw you in, once you've spent enough time learning about them.

As someone who had never tried a tower defence game before, this was quite a learning curve. The game is not a pushover and I think my previous experience with RPG gacha games softened me too much. There is work to be done here and there is no AFK mechanism so it requires attention and time. Art, translation, gameplay and the world are all superb and those things are what made me want to continue to learn and get better at the game.

Overall story, graphics, character design, mechanic in game and especially sound track is top notch. And like the other gacha games the time required for grinding is tremendous and you can't even use money to mass grinding. When playing a gacha game there have to be a character that I particularly like and adorned to be able to continue grinding, but after getting familiar with this game for quite sometimes and even pays a sum of money, it's time to go back to my waifu in Azur Lane

This game is absolutely phenomenal. The art, the story---everything. The thing that got me invested into it was how well built the world is. It's kinda believable, and somehow everything just makes sense. The gacha rate is also quite high compared to other games. So if you're into tower defense games with a solid storyline and interesting characters, this game is a must try!

I think Arknights is an epitome of Tower Defense Games, and I can say its nearly a perfect game that can be labeled as a masterpiece among TD games. Why? Gameplay is rewarding, by logging daily and fullfilling daily u0026 weekly quests you can get a lot of resources, and it doesn't force you to play in a specific difficulty level. You feel that you are developing through the game, biggest example being upgrading operators u0026 their skills. 500 character limit holding me back. Thats all for Arknights.

Very free to play friendly. The stories are great. Maps are fun and sometimes hard. Events have nice gimmicks but it makes it fun. Game can be challenging at times but multiple ways to do it even if you are unlucky in pulling for operators, other people can fill those holes or another operator who's similar. A bit hard to start, but once you get going it's very fun.

I've been playing since Feb, 17 of last year and let me tell you, I love this game so much. Gacha is amazing and forgiving, masterpiece of a story, music gives you eargasms, superb UI, extreme F2P, the characters are too good, and many other things to say! I spent more than $1.2k now and I'll keep spending to support this amazing game. Give this a chance, you might fall in love with this game, community, and the developers! Keep up the great work Hypergryph, you guys are doing an amazing job!

The only game that needs your brain not your money. All operators in the game are viable. There's no such thing as meta as long as you have a good strategy even though you are just using low star operators you can definitely clear all stages without using high star operators. The only downside of the game is it's energy system so you gotta wait if you run out and also it's gacha so yeah dont expect to get every operators. But yes this game is definitely one of the best gacha game out there.

Been playing since day 1 of release, great to see that Arknights didn't dissapoint. Gameplay is solid, difficulty ramps up as expected. The hardest stages came from events, CC mostly, and even then top tier OPs aren't necessary to clear them. Way to go for game balancing. Gacha system is great. Rates are fair, the means to earn gacha currency exists and refreshes over time. All in all, they don't skimp you off even if you're a free player. But then again, they deserve your full love u0026 support.

I'm not one for Gacha games, but this one is really special. It's very generous with gacha currency and free pulls all the time, every character has a use and all the character designs are unique. I've been playing this game for about 9 months now and since we always know what's coming next I can save for the characters I want. I am Hyped for the Rainbow 6 collaboration that's happening soon.

A well designed tower defense game with a heavy emphasis on material grinding and character collection in mind with a wide variety of different units who may sometimes seem similar to each other they still find a niche they can fill, while said units have interesting visual design and lore that fits into the overarching theme of the game. The only real downside is its weaker beginning to the story but it definitely picks up in quality.
noname212798, the 06/06/2021

________________________________________________

This is a balanced hero collection game and tower defense like game. Unlike games like raid shadow legends, progressing is more engaging because there's a lot more challenge and strategy. This game makes all characters viable through most of the game and has events all the time. you can make a solid team with 3 star characters, very f2p friendly I highly recommend this game, especially if you value your time and want something more engaging out of hero gacha collection games that's unique

Great gacha, but more importantly, one of the best TDs I've ever played. The level design never disappoints and im always looking forward to new stages. The grind is quick cuz of how quickly stamina gets spent, and incentive to redo and optimize autos for speed and trust farm adds enough replayability. Lots of clever open ended solutions. The lack of autorepeat and clunky base management are annoying though.
noname322099, the 06/06/2021

________________________________________________

The best mobile game I've ever played yet. Amazing character designs, thick and heavy plot, more than enough events/banners to keep me interested, and gacha rates are extremely considerate and very F2P friendly. I can't recommend this game enough, 11/10. On that note, don't play it if you KNOW you won't ever like tower defense mechanics, or if you're prone to throwing childish tantrums whenever you don't successfully pull operators you want, it happens, it's a gacha game.

I made an account last year, but I didn't play too much, and I only got to level 6. But now that I'm back, I'm already enjoying it. The gameplay is enjoyable. It's fun to have events and prizes for newcomers. Skins for each character are also affordable, which adds to my enjoyment. This game's art is also excellent, and I love and enjoy each and every one of them. Also, this game's stories are fantastic. Overall, this game deserve a ????

The game is good. The gameplay is challenging , character design is decent, gatcha rates are forgiving, the events are something you look forward to, and the music is so good you wouldn't expect it to come from a gatcha game. I could go in detail on everything I love about this game, but I just don't have time for that.
noname289400, the 06/06/2021

One of the least predatory gacha systems in mobile gaming. The currency you use for rolls accumulates easily, and you can beat endgame content without spending money at all. The gameplay is fun, the characters are likable, and the story is compelling. It's been over a year since release and powercreep hasn't been an issue at all. Also has one of the cleanest UIs of all the gacha games I've played. Not much to criticize tbh.

One of the best games I've ever played, the gacha rates are fair, the characters are incredibly well drawn, the voice acting is incredible, and it is absolutely f2p, you don't need to buy anything or spend exorbitant times grinding to continue the story. One of the most complete games I have played, and I will always be willing to spend time playing this. Masterpiece, 10/10

After playing for almost a year Ive finally decided to write something here. This game is seriously fun and addictive for just the gameplay alone, its super satisfying to finally beat that one level youve been stuck and juat as equally satisfying to easily beat a level. The gacha works well and is great, eventhough im still a free to play player I've never struggled because of not having good enough units and I've been able to get almost all of the high rarity units i wanted. Highly recommend.
noname301931, the 06/06/2021

________________________________________________

This game is absolutely amazing the units and artwork are phenomenal. The gacha systems rates arent the best, but it makes up for it with a free 5 or 6 star within 10 pulls. Most of the characters are voiced by japanese anime voice actors. Lime platinum for instance is voiced by the actor for darkness from conosuba.ITS NOT P2W it is really good in supporting f2p players. I already have 4 6 stars and ive only played for a month, and i havent spent any money. Overall great game.
noname970970, the 06/06/2021

________________________________________________

Solid tower defense gameplay with a very F2P friendly format makes this game very enjoyable. Just about every character is decent or has a specific niche, and a team of the highest rarity units isn't always your best bet. You'll be playing a lot when you first get started, but after a couple weeks you'll start to hit a wall where necessary grinding will cost a lot of your stamina, or "Sanity", and your daily playtime will start to drastically decrease. Still quite enjoyable despite this.
noname712546, the 06/06/2021

I enjoy this game so much that I actually have two accounts playing it. My main has spent money on the game mainly the $5 monthly pack and occasional event packages. Then my later alrernate account is my totally f2p account to see how the non paying experience goes. This f2o account is not as far as my main but still somewhat close despite starting later and not as heavily played on. Still has its fair share of good 6* and 5* operators along with quite a few E2 ones. 4* and lower can still win.
noname15085, the 06/06/2021

________________________________________________

Seldom do I write reviews, but this game is truly phenomenal. It involves a pretty darn good story that gets updated. There is almost always an event going on and new characters are released regularly. $$$? This game tends to be pretty f2p friendly. There is a $5 a month pass that is very high value if you login daily. You do not need to spend any money in the game to have fun, but I actually don't mind dropping a little money in the slightest as I love this game. I cannot recommend it enough!
noname898938, the 06/06/2021

________________________________________________

I like that the Gacha system in this game is different than other Gachas. What makes this Gacha game different than most others, is; It is not Pay To Win, In most cases Lower Rarity Operators are more reliable than Higher Rarity Operators, Good Operators are easier to get than other Gachas, and there is no PVP, just pure Co-op. As for Gameplay, I enjoy both the difficulty and complexity. Constant Events and Character Design are both nice. Overall, there is nothing I see that could go wrong.
noname786655, the 06/06/2021

Really good tower defense game, good-looking operators and so much more. I have been playing this game for a year now, awesome events. I only have one issue: I cannot download the update. It always stops at 100% and doesn't continue. I started downloading the update at 5 o'clock (my country time) an

I've generally enjoyed this game and it's story. The downside of it is that some stages are so tightly tuned that it starts to feel more like a puzzle game than a TD unless you happen to have a few strong units. I still haven't gotten caught up with the story due to the difficulty but probably will some day.
noname64400, the 07/12/2025

________________________________________________

One of the few good mobile games in the 2020s, and one of the best tower defenses out there- and still has constant updates. Been playing for about 2 1/2 years with only one complaint: Auto-redeploy not always being consistent. However, I can look past it with how many characters, modes, mechanics and lore/story the game has. It'll take years to run out of things to do. Warning though, early-game you will miss out on a lot of things due to not being strong enough or having enough resources saved

I'm new to the "Japanese" type of media, usually just playing other type of games due to people slandering weebs but I still have to admit that even though I felt like I was going to hate it at the second I'd first play it, it was the opposite. I was pretty much hooked on it after kind of understanding the gameplay mechanics, base building (even though it's still in beta) and basically the free lootbox mechanic where you can just grind stuff instead of paying. Oh, and absolutely no ads. Great.
noname743008, the 07/12/2025

________________________________________________

This game is a gacha tower defense game. The gacha rates are decent you get free pulls frequently. The game is fun and has more depth than your average tower defense game. The challenge level is consistently difficult, forcing you to think on your feet and try new tactics. There is enough content that you won't ever run out. Overall this game is excellent. Sets the bar for gacha games. Edit: 5 years later, the game is still top notch. It's easier than ever for new players jump in.
noname573410, the 07/12/2025

________________________________________________

Arguably one of the best gacha games available. All of the content can be completed with low-rarity units and the gacha itself is quite generous compared to other games on the market. Moreover, there is little to no powercreep; launch units are currently still relevant and is most likely will still be in the future. In terms of being a tower-defense game, Arknights sets itself apart from games of its kind by making unit placements more dynamic. Try it for yourself, you'll see what I mean.
noname672324, the 07/12/2025

________________________________________________

They say its a tower defense but the thought I had to put in the levels at times makes you feel like you're not playing a tds. It's not a simple rock paper scissors trick, you genuinely need an understanding of the game and the challenges presented. Its still a decently challenging experience even if you have broken/meta characters. I highly recommend because sometimes it doesn't feel like a gacha.
noname56295, the 07/12/2025

________________________________________________

A fun, cool defence tower type game, with a variety of characters and accents (voices) which is cool to see! However, there are more female than male characters which doesn't appeal to me, but it's great for people who do want that. I think the text in the story is a bit small and the story isn't that immersive for me. Just not the game for me because I'm really bad at defending, I find it really hard to pass levels and have to watch tutorials. Do have a go at this game though, you might like it
noname369872, the 07/12/2025

________________________________________________

It's a really fun and challenging game, I enjoyed every aspect of this game except the extremely challenging storyline, the first few chapters were okay but when patriot came around, the boss stage difficulty increased significantly and I wasn't able to complete those stages without using guides. I wish I could play this game as a casual player. It has been a while since I last played, but I can still remember the difficulty jump clearly.
noname699670, the 07/12/2025

________________________________________________

Gave it a try, and I had it rough?the game and story progression is really slow, and only got a FEW pulls. I don't mind if there's no voiceovers, but it's difficult to keep my attention on it when there's also a lack of characters' expression sheets, and I'm only left with myself to imagine how the characters show emotions with just text alone. Feels like it'll only be tedious to play from here on out.
noname890979, the 07/12/2025

________________________________________________

This is literally the steepest learning curve for me for a game. but... i love pain I guess? I arrived here late but, just adding my rating. I like that it feels like I'm collecting art pieces when I buy a skin. At first I needed help every level but now I can clear a whole chapters normal levels by myself. ? The worldbuilding is really the highlight of this game, tbh. They built a unique and immersive videogame setting within the constraints of 2D images. The story then enriches the world.

Been playing two years solid. Likable characters, compelling story, involved gameplay, resource management, generous rewards, and a store that's not in your face, just available if you want it. Max characters are possible without ever spending a dime. I payed monthly for over a year, but it doesn't hurt other players or leave them behind, but supports them instead even without the need to friend players. Any one of these would make this a good mobile game, but it does them all better than others
noname818330, the 07/12/2025

________________________________________________

Been playing for 5 years. One of the best in the TD genre. For the lore nerds, the worldbuilding goes deep and most stories feel like a short novel. For those who only want gameplay, there's hours of unique levels and strategy, and even several gamemodes (normal, roguelike, RTS, boss rush...etc.). The devs always find new ways to innovate the game. The community is supportive and there's a guide for every stage if you're stuck on one. Truly 10/10, I can't recommend it enough. PEAK.

________________________________________________

5/5 Best game 2020 and probably best Gacha story ever Edit: very good still, we got a lot of QoL (faster farming, and MUCH better base management). This game has endless things to do! Ultimately, if you don't like the tower defense gameplay (with a LOT of powercreep), then the game will get old after a while. But even then, I would recommend this game just for the story and characters alone. The main issues are the stamina (low amount) and the pulls (50/50 and low income)

Best gacha game I ever played. However Hypergryph if you are reading this, please implement a regional pricing for your in-game purchase. Me and a lot of your playerbase are based on SEA Region, most of us are third world country, when converting prices from dollar, it takes a heavy toll on our wallet. I am a willing-spent player, but even this is too much for me. I bet you if you implement it, you will get even more willing spent player.

One of the best tower defense games of all time, point blank. With hundreds of operators with unique abilities to choose from, an endless variety of enemies and stage mechanics, and a massive selection of stages that focuses on diverse combat scenarios, this game is elevated from a simple tower defense to a complex strategy puzzle sandbox. Extremely f2p friendly, plenty of gacha currency and dozens of operators and character outfits can be earned through normal gameplay

Arknights is absolutely my favorite Gacha. Everything in game can be completed without spending a dime. The story is very complex, with an iceberg stretching down into the depths of the internet. Even as an endgame player, I still have so many reasons to keep coming back. Modes such as Integrated Strategies and Reclamation Algorithm provide excellent rewards for endgame players, without being inaccessible for newer doctors. If I had the space, I could write a book on why you should play this.
noname733031, the 07/12/2025

________________________________________________

It's a really great game if you're into tower defense or similar genres. I'll start positive - It's a really nice, well refined and mechanically strong TD with an absolute wealth of great content. The endgame is strong, with several challenging game modes that give ample opportunity to test yourself, and a really fun roguelite mode that forces you to play under restrictions and get creative with strategies. And the negative - The early game is a bit weak, and it takes time to get into.
noname703862, the 07/12/2025

________________________________________________

Been a long time since I played again but I remember why I stopped, the stamina system is lacking. You run a stage 3-4 times and you are already out so you can't even play the game. The stamina recovers so slow too that forces you to be able to play this game twice a day once in the morning and night but the sessions last less than 10 minutes. It gets boring real fast cuz you only run a few stages each day.
noname82207, the 07/12/2025

An absolute masterpiece. Fair gacha system, beautiful art styles and character designs, top tier voice acting, simple gameplay that can still be challenging, intriguing story and lore (that I'm still trying to understand). This is by far the most balanced gacha I've played so far. Still no Mostima tho ?
