This is a very simple but well made app. The computer levels are well balanced and get harder steadily with no huge jumps and the puzzles are good as well. A few small issues: Firstly, the in-game sounds are very grating and could certainly be improved. Secondly, some if the puzzles have multiple solutions but only one is 'correct' according to the game. Finally, the king is very small in the graphics and lacks its characteristic cross which can be confusing when glancing at a position.

long ad before I can play my first game after download. it's an offline game. I could handle it if it were online but it's not.. if you wanted to make money for the trouble of making this offline game you should charge a buck for different pieces or different boards or animations. let your players decide if they want to or not. me.. I deleted the game strictly because I wanted to play chess and waiting between ads was too inconvenient.

Bought to improve my game. The ads were annoying so I paid to remove them. Although there are a lot less now you the occasional one still pops up, usually promoting games. I've also found the app occasionally crashes at the point of check mate. When I try to leave the game a message appears warning that if you do you will lose! I suppose that's the app equivalent of upsetting the board and knocking the pieces over!

updated: Lowered rating from 4 to 2. Previously reported issues were not addressed I re-installed and the game was the same. My rating no longer appears. After losing a key piece like a bishop, AI concedes and makes terrible moves like trading their queen for my pawn. Game is no longer worth playing. Previously Helped my chess game considerably. In the beginning the game would show my rating, but I've noticed it stopped doing this?

*edit* altered my review, the game itself is awesome and the developer responded so promptly makes a difference hence my change in review* I don't think I've ever left an app a review this quickly, the games brilliant but the absolutely ridiculous amount of adverts is insane, from the second you open the game there's an advert, anytime you win or lose advert, its that bad im surprised there isn't an advert after every move ?u200d?? we get it you need to make money but tone it down

Games ok until the computer no longer allows strategy and begins to make pointless moves. Pawns glitch constantly attacking a pawn moved beside another and gets attacked from a non-existent pawn attack. Game could be better, but as it is its just annoying to practice and get better.

Solid overall. the levels ramp up in a nice progression, and the hint tool is pretty helpful. A few weak points: - many of the puzzles have multiple winning moves, but the game only accepts one of them as correct. The rest result in a fail/advertisement -the puzzles are incredibly easy/repetitive - there is no way to offer a draw. You are forced to use the 50 move rule, which takes a long time, or take the loss. Still, it's free and helpful, so I'm keeping it at 5 stars

Really good chess app for offline gameplay! The interface is simple, the controls are smooth, and the game works perfectly without an internet connection. Great for playing anytime, especially when you want to practice chess or pass some time. Lightweight, easy to use, and enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Great game ... it would be nice to get points other than hints, to possibly change the look of the board or pieces in style/texture - (wood, metal, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, medieval, SciFi, etc). Probably get more players with more options. EDIT: Played a game with my son and noted the computer has options that humans don't - to call a draw or resign. EDIT: Only recieved one comment from company that asks for ideas to improve, yet they're listed above (-1 star)

Shows available moves. Nice look. Check visible alert. Redo with ad in stalemate. Win one to access next high level. Great variety of difficulty. I enjoy seeing computer opponent descisions to avoid captures, inadvertantly shows me!, evasion tactics. This is a Nnnnice! chess gameplay app to me....I hope to win one and the play at next level-far as I can. Pre Easy-game leaves many opportunities to take pieces and misses several opportunities in the game I played. Check It

Best way to play without the pressure. I installed it to play whenever I feel anxious and it helps that it allows me to go back in steps. I played with a couple of my friends after installing this app and they're surprised at my major improvement - something that just came out of passing time. It's offline, even better!

The game is good except for one thing. Every time you get checkmate it goes straight to an ad before admitting defeat. That feels like bad sportsmanship. It really sucks and makes me feel angry.

Paid for ad free. During 1st game, got a pop up that was impossible to get rid of...had to close the app to stop it. The ads last 30 seconds everytime. if it says ad free, it should be ad free. I contacted the developers, so far, no response. Also says stalemate when it is not....Only option is to get a refund from google and get a better app.

Game play seems good. Lost 3 stars just for the ads that don't end and are way too long. In order to enjoy the app you literally have to exit the game after the ad starts and restart the game (it's 10x faster than trying to get the rough the ads.) Edit: (Responding to developer's response) Running ads is not the problem... it's the type of ads you choose to run and how you've set them up. Like I said, it's literally 10x faster to close your app and reload than to get through your chosen ad.

Playing vs app should not be limited to number of moves then force ad to continue. If you allow back up moves, then allow unlimited moves to checkmate. Makes practice and working out different approaches easier. I paid for ad-free. Why do I have to watch an ad???!

I like the game and the options in game are nice. I only had it for a few hours. I gave it a 3 because the adds are difficult to skip. Sometime the skip option is there and sometime it wasnt. I'd have to close the app to get it to reset. The adds were too much for me.
